Spring 2021 Dear Friends of MSCL House,
As life begins to return to a version of normalcy, we at MSCL House appreciate the opportunities that have arisen as a result of the pandemic.
In January, MSCL House collaborated with Hyperbarics Health and Wellness Foundation to conduct the Breath of Hope Project documenting the benefits of combined Hyperbarics Oxygen Treatment (HBOT) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Therapy on persons with alcohol and drug use disorders and its effect on recovery maintenance. Research studies from around the world show HBOT is a safe and effective way to treat and help heal the damage caused by long term alcohol and substance abuse and assists with mitigating the systems of withdrawal. The year-long program began this March with ten participants in the study, each committed to 6-months of combined HBOT treatments and counseling sessions. The Breath of Hope Project was made possible by funding from The Arlene and Michael Rosen Foundation. The men have been busy honing their culinary skills in our newly remodeled kitchen thanks to the support of the amazing individuals, foundations, and local businesses who funded the project and donated labor and materials. And the skillful and professional contracting team of 5 Star Kitchen and Bath who built us a functional kitchen completed on time, according to plan, and on budget. Our special thanks to:
5 Star Kitchen and Bath Classic Stone Works Conrad Brothers Construction Ferguson Enterprises Ketchum Fine Finishes Glass Masters High County Heating MGD Woodworks Mountain Land Design Molly and Peter Prekeges REI Electric Sawtooth Plumbing Wood River Women's Foundation
And as part of our efforts to help our residents adopt a healthier lifestyle, we received a grant from the Chichester duPont Foundation toward funding our in-house nutrition program.
2021 is shaping up to be an exciting year of growth for MSCL House and our residents. Thank you for being a part of the team.
Sonya Wilander Executive Director As we enter our third year of operation, we look back with gratitude to all of our supporters who made this life-changing journey possible. In 2018, Rebecca and Jonathan Neeley put the "House" in MSCL House by gifting a home to the community that has now become the foundation for our work and a safe, sober home of hope for our residents in recovery.
A sober home is an integral part of the recovery process that has proven to help raise the chances of full, successful recovery while lowering the chances of relapse and recidivism. Thank you Rebecca and Jonathan, it has truly been inspiring to witness the transformation of the individuals who have walked through our doors and who have directly benefitted from this extraordinary opportunity.
“We heard about your plan for a men’s sober home. We knew there was a need for this in our community. We wanted to help and be a part of it." - Rebecca Neeley
THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS! Recovery is not just about abstinence from drugs and alcohol, but it is also about hope, healing, and restoration. By connecting with our many community partners, we are able to help our residents achieve success in all facets of their recovery: mind, body, and soul.
These days, our residents have something to smile about! Dr. Brian Galbraith and his team at Sun Valley Dental Group are helping us achieve our vision of holistic healing by providing our residents with much-needed, preventative, and restorative dental services. Thank you to the SVDG team for advancing good oral health, restoring our residents' smiles, and giving them a smooth start to their new life of recovery!
