Dear Friends of MSCL House,
MSCL House begins its fifth year of operation in 2023, and we are now advocating for an additional 6 men in the valley! On behalf of everyone here at MSCL House, thank you for your generosity in 2022. Your contributions allowed us to achieve our ambitious goal of buying a second home to support men in recovery and to offer our wrap-around programs to all residents. Through these programs, the men are thriving in their recovery and establishing healthier lifestyles. Your support, in addition to our continual collaboration with community members and partner organizations, makes these programs possible.
With heartfelt thanks and warm wishes for the coming year, Sonya Wilander Executive Director

Embracing wellness can improve quality of life, so we encourage our residents to participate in healthy activities in this amazing area we call home. Our residents are having fun outdoors this winter, enjoying snowshoeing and skiing. Many thanks to Sun Valley Resort and all those who support our Wellness Program. |
We are grateful to St. Luke’s for their support in helping our residents continue their path towards a healthier lifestyle. Their nutritionists, Abbie and Theresa, generously offer their time and knowledge to teach our residents how to prepare delicious, nutritious recipes. |
A BIG THANK YOU TO JENSEN STERN fine jewelry boutique for supporting MSCL House and sponsoring our 3rd Annual “Chance to Change” holiday raffle. Congratulations Leigh Everitt, the lucky winner of the $10,000 gift certificate. |

"Financial literacy has always been my thing. Having spent over 20 years in global asset management, I developed a passion for capital markets, portfolio creation, and capital preservation.
Early in my career, I recognized the power of having the confidence to use one’s voice. To do this, we must always be learning. I believe that everyone can benefit when possessed with skills and knowledge that allow for better informed and effective financial decisions. Supporting our clients in taking an active role in their finances helps illuminate the path to pursue their dreams.
My philanthropic endeavors often involve surrounding myself with inspiring women who have helped me grow and understand how to elevate others. In 2020, I joined the Hazlett Wealth Management team to work with women who are also driven by empowering investors through promoting financial literacy. That same year, I started teaching the MSCL Financial Literacy classes to educate and empower the MSCL residents.
I love spending time with the guys, supporting them, getting to know them, and listening to them – having fun and laughing is the best thing for sobriety. Doing activities, going to meetings, going out to eat… whatever it is, you can do it sober. Life can be great away from drugs and alcohol! If we can make a difference in one guy’s life and he passes it on to either a housemate or a friend who is considering recovery, then what we are doing is working – all of us who are involved with MSCL House are making a difference.
Whether you cherish spending time with friends and family traveling, dining, playing sports, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, participating in the arts, pursuing philanthropic endeavors, or all the above, the act of defining your life and financial goals empowers you to do so." |
The holidays were filled with yummy food and bountiful gifts! The MSCL House family – Board members, volunteers, staff and residents – came together for a fun evening of dinner, conversation, and gifts. Thanks to Dang's Thai Cuisine for the amazing food and for helping us create a memorable holiday dinner.
Our residents are grateful to the Sun Valley Realtors Association and the Life Church members whose contributions supported a fun-filled holiday of gifts under the tree and groceries to prepare home-cooked Christmas meals. |
